Task 17 of the IEA DSM program is to provide an analysis of the use of demand response, distributed generation and storage for energy systems operation. The project consists of four subtasks. Subtask 10 describes the context and covers the current role and the interactions of flexible consumers and producers in the energy system. Subtask 11 covers the changes and impacts on grid and market operation once optimally using demand flexibility and includes valuation of demand side flexibility. Subtask 12 collects experiences and describes best practices in several countries. Subtask 13 ends with the conclusions.
